Ferrari Purosangue orders reopen, 3,567 Ferraris sold in Q1 2023

Ferrari has reopened orders for the Purosangue. Starting the year on a positive note, the company sold 3,567 units so far in Q1 2023, 9.7% more than the same period last year.

To recap, Ferrari halted orders for the Purosangue in December 2022, and the waiting time for the high-performance SUV went up to two years for some customers. This was due to an unexpected and overwhelmingly high demand for the car that forced the company to stop taking orders for it.

In a recent press release, Ferrari CEO, Benedetto Vigna said, “We have decided to reopen orders for the Purosangue, suspended due to an initial unprecedented demand, and launched the Roma Spider to further enrich our offer.”

“We are on track with our electrification journey on the development of both sports cars and infrastructures in Maranello”, added Vigna.

For those who don’t know, the Ferrari Purosangue is Ferarri’s first-ever four-door SUV. Even though the Italian supercar maker refuses to label it as an SUV and calls it a “four-door four-seater” instead, we all know what it truly is.

The Purosangue is powered by a front-mid mounted 6.5-litre V12 engine capable of producing 725 hp (metric) and 716 Nm. The engine is mated to an eight-speed oil-bath F1 dual-clutch transmission (DCT) and power is sent to all four wheels.

The Purosangue weighs 2,033 kg and is able to go from 0-100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds. The high-performance SUV is also capable of achieving over 310 km/h of top speed.

Closer to home, Ferrari S.p.A. (Ferrari) has parted ways with Naza Italia Sdn Bhd, the supercar company’s sole distributor in Malaysia. This just happened in March this year, and was due to a non-alignment of their expectations and strategy between the two companies, according to Naza Italia Sdn Bhd. No news has surfaced regarding Naza Italia’s replacement as of now.
