Shell Malaysia unveils ‘new and improved’ FuelSave 95, promises up to 15 KM more per tank

Shell Malaysia has unveiled the New and Improved Shell FuelSave 95, its latest RON 95 petrol formulation that promises up to 15 km of extra range per tank. The new FuelSave 95 formulation is now available at all Shell petrol stations nationwide.

A product stemming from over five years of extensive research and testing by over 150 fuel scientists worldwide, the new FuelSave 95 petrol features new deposit targeting technology that is said to remove up to 65% of the carbon build-up in the engine, resulting in approximately 2% better fuel consumption overall.

In addition to removing performance-robbing deposits, the new Shell FuelSave 95 formulation also protects against corrosion and future deposit build up within the engine and fuel systems, such as intake valves and fuel injectors.

Shell says the new fuel is designed to work on all engines, both old and new, including hybrid powertrains. Malaysia is also the first market to launch the new formulation globally.

“Shell continuously strives to innovate and enhance our offerings for the benefit of our customers. Better By Far is our promise of never stopping and always innovating new mobility solutions to match the evolving customers’ needs,” said Shell Malaysia General Manager of Mobility, Seow Lee Ming.

The 15 km claim – which Shell says in its press release is coincidentally the distance of the first Penang Bridge – has been tested on Malaysian roads with over 6 vehicles ranging from Euro 4 to Euro 6 specifications, with an accumulated distance of over 10,000 km each, using the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP) standard.

However, the company clarifies that the actual effects and benefits of the new fuel will still vary according to vehicle type, condition, and even driving style – Shell cannot provide a guarantee to the fuel-saving claims, but is confident that most car owners will be able to benefit from the new fuel.

In conjunction with the launch of the new FuelSave 95 petrol, Shell has also kicked off the ‘Shell FuelSave 95 Challenge 2023’, where the company is searching for the one Malaysian who clocks the best fuel economy with its latest RON95 petrol formulation. The grande finale winner after the nationwide search will walk home with a RM20,000 cash prize.

Additionally, Shell is also partnering with Visa and BonusLink to giveaway 15 months of free fuels to 150 Malaysians. To stand a chance of winning, all you have to do is pump RM50 of the new Shell FuelSave 95 petrol between 1 March and 30 April.
