The Polestar 2 BST Edition 270 is what happens when you let engineers run wild

Remember the ‘Beast’ that Polestar showed off in last year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed? Well, it was originally only supposed to be an experimental model, to test the limits of their engineering capabilities. But the public’s response towards the car was apparently so good, that they had “no choice other than to put it into limited production”, or so they say…

It’s called the Polestar 2 BST edition 270 – where ‘BST’ obviously stands for ‘Beast’, and ‘270’ for the fact that only 270 units will be built, and it’s exclusive to Europe, North America, and China.

Kicking things off is the electric powertrain, which has been tuned to now make 350 kW (476 hp) and 680 Nm of torque, or 50 kW (68 hp) and 20 Nm more than the regular car. Power is sent to all four wheels via a dual-motor set-up, with a 78 kWh battery pack providing electric juice.

More important than that, however, are the chassis upgrades. The BST also gets a set of specially-developed Ohlins two-way adjustable dampers, a front strut bar, 25 mm lowered ride height, as well as 20% stiffer springs all round.

All of these changes were initially designed to handle the tight twists and turns of the Goodwood circuit, and now 270 lucky people will get to experience it on the open roads too. To round it all off, the Polestar 2 BST Edition 270 also gets a set of matte black 21-inch alloy wheels shod in bespoke Pirelli P Zero tyres, with four-piston Brembo brakes hiding behind.

The limited-edition model is available in either Thunder or Snow exterior colours, and can be paired to a matte black stripe (with a negative-spaced ‘2’ on the bonnet) across the entire length of the car for an additional USD1,000 (approx. RM4,391) if you so wish.

Want to take it to the next level? Polestar will also let you wrap the entire car in a Battleship Gray satin wrap – but no matter which exterior colour you choose, the bumpers, wheel arch claddings, and side skirts will all be fully-painted/wrapped according to the exterior colour as opposed to gloss black on the regular model.

The Polestar 2 BST Edition 270 will have a starting price of USD76,900 (approx. RM338k), and deliveries are scheduled to start near the end of this year. Just too bad we won’t be able to get one here.
