The Ministry of Finance has just announced the pricing for petrol for the next seven days. Shockingly, the price of RON 97 petrol sees a large jump of 10 sen per litre after tiny increments since late March 2021.
For the next seven days starting tomorrow (October 14th to 20th), RON 97 petrol will retail at a whopping RM2.87 per litre. RON 95 petrol and Diesel continue to maintain at their respective price levels of RM2.05 and RM2.15 per litre, a figure that has been capped since late February this year.
The last time RON 97 was priced at the RM2.80 per litre range was between late April and early May 2019. Meanwhile, the largest jump for RON 97 petrol was 19 sen, moving from RM2.47 to RM2.66 in the middle of June 2018.
In the weekly press statement by the Ministry, the government said it will continue to monitor the price of crude oil globally, capping the price of RON 95 and diesel plus taking steps to maintain the welfare and well-being of the people.
