Facts & Figures: Ferrari Portofino M “Modificata” launched in Malaysia

Naza Italia has just introduced the new Ferrari Portofino M in Malaysia as the new entry point into the convertible Ferrari with prices starting from RM998,000 excluding taxes, duties and options.

The M stands for ‘Modificata‘ which by Ferrari’s standards is a name ‘for cars that have undergone an evolution that has significantly boosted their performance’.

The Portofino M makes extra 20 hp from before, and also gets a new 8-speed gearbox box adopted from the Ferrari SF90 Stradale to replace the previous 7-speed gearbox. The new dual-clutch differs from the SF90’s unit with longer gear ratios and a mechanical reverse gear. The Portofino M is also a full second faster from 0 to 200 km/h compared to the 2018 model.

PERFORMANCE

  • Engine: 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8
  • Transmission: 8-speed dual clutch
  • Drivetrain: Rear-wheel drive
  • Max Power: 620 hp @ 5,750 to 7,500 rpm
  • Max Torque: 760 Nm @ 3,000 to 5,750 rpm
  • 0 to 100 km/h: 3.4 seconds
  • Top speed: 320 km/h

The new Portofino M gets revised front and rear bumpers as the latter has been redesigned to accommodate a new exhaust system. The rear diffuser has also been completely redesigned and is now separate from the bumpers. This also allows clients to be able to specify it in carbon fibre.

As for the convertible roof, it can open and close within 14 seconds.

Just to heighten the senses for both driver and passenger, this specific Portofino M unit comes with the optional carbon fibre steering wheel with LED rev indicators and a passenger display.

DRIVER ASSISTANCE

As Ferrari calls it, the Portofino M is a 2+ GT Spider so long-distance and ease of driving is highly crucial. As such, not only is it quick, it can also do a butler’s work with the full Advance Driver Assistance System (ADAS) package.

ADAS includes adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, rear-cross traffic alert, lane departure warning, adaptive high beam and a 3D surround-view monitor. These features were not available in the previous Portofino.
