Wolverine could play Enzo Ferrari in new biopic movie

Hugh Jackman, better known for his role as Wolverine in the X-Men franchise, could be trading his claws for horsepower very soon. The Australian actor is set to play Enzo Ferrari in the latest movie depicting both the iconic figure and his company.

The biopic will be based on a book written by renowned motoring journalist, the late Brock Yates. The movie titled “Enzo Ferrari: The Man and the Machine” will be directed by Michael Mann, the man behind movies like Ali, Miami Vice and Public Enemies.

The new Enzo Ferrari movie revolves around the late 1950s; a troubling period for the founder of the most recognised brand in automotive. Not only mourning the death of his son, Dino Ferrari, Enzo was also troubled by marital affairs at that time.

The new movie will also focus on Enzo Ferrari’s attempt to revive his company’s fortunes by entering into the 1957 Mille Miglia event, a gruelling 1,000 mile (1,600 km) road race across Northern Italy.

It was to be the last edition of the road race as it was subsequently banned. It followed after the Ferrari 335 S crashed during the race; killing both driver and co-driver along with several spectators. According to GC Australia, the film is set to begin production in 2021.

Locally, Naza Italia just launched the new Ferrari Roma, with a price tag of RM968k before options and duties. Named after the most iconic Italian city, the Roma houses the same 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8 with 620 hp and 760 Nm. The same power plant can be found in the Portofino and F8 Tributo.
