ArcFox-7 super EV will be Asia GT’s official pace car on Sepang

Shortly after the announcement that Asia GT Festival will be making its way to Sepang International Circuit (SIC) coming 15 to 17 March 2019, the organisers have confirmed that the official pace car for the race will be the ArcFox-7 all-electric supercar.

The ArcFox-7 first made its debut as a concept at the 2016 Beijing Auto Show build by Chinese state-owned enterprise Beijing Automotive Industry Corporation (BAIC) under subsidiary brand Beijing EV (BJEV). The electric supercar also gets design and technical inputs from Campos Racing who are currently active in numerous racing series including Formula E.

While information on the ArcFox-7 is scarce, it is reported that the EV packs over 600 hp and over 1,000 Nm from its electric motors, all-wheel-drive and has a century sprint time of under 3 seconds. Top speed is rated at 260 km/h and is able to cover over 300 km range on a single charge. Surely these credentials are enough for it to lead over 30 GT race cars around the 5.5 km circuit.

This will not be the first time the ArcFox-7 is employed for pace car duties as it as reliably served this role at previous rounds of the China GT Championship.
