Yesterday, our Sepang International Circuit was awoken by the thunderous roars of Ferrari 488 Challenges as it hosted Round 5 of the Ferrari Challenge Asia 2017. It also offered a select few, privileged media representatives to (briefly) get up close with the new 812 Superfast and unleash the frightening power of the V12 Ferrari GTC4 Lusso and the V8 GTC4 Lusso T to maximum effect!
Representing Team NAZA Aylezo (No.69) is Malaysian motorsport veteran Zen Low who is the sole Malaysian in the race series and also the first Malaysian to compete with the new Ferrari 488 Challenge. He will be competing in the Trofeo Pirelli category in the 2017 season. The Ferrari 488 takes over from its predecessor, the 458 Challenge, as the first turbocharged Ferrari and also the most powerful car in the history of the series.
NAZA World Group Executive Chairman, Datuk Wira SM Faisal Tan Sri Nasimuddin said, “It has been a thrill to follow Zen Low’s progress in the Ferrari Challenge APAC and we are excited to have the opportunity to watch him live in action here in Sepang. Not only has he done us proud with his performance so far, he has also earned tremendous support from fellow Malaysians.”
Zen Low had got off to a spectacular start in the season so far; earning 2nd place in the first race and 3rd in the subsequent. This was followed by two other podium finishes in the 3rd and 4th races held in Shanhai and Zhejiang, China.
Ever since Zen founded Aylezo Motorsport in 2009, he’s taken part in a variety of motorsport events both locally and regionally, including the Merdeka Millenium Endurance Race, the Gulf 12 hours, Asian LeMans series, Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo, GT Asia, Sepang 12 hours and even the Bathurst 12 hours.
The Ferrari Challenge race series was established as a one-make series in 1993, spanning over three regions; North America, Europe and Asia Pacific. This year, the Ferrari Challenge sees drivers being grouped in various categories including Trofeo Pirelli, Trofeo Porelli AM, Trofeo Pirelli 458, Coppa Shell, Ladies’ Cup and Gentlemen’s Cup. The next round of the Ferrari Challenge APAC will be in Singapore on the 15th – 17th September.
