“Getting more with less” are consumer-enticing deals which almost always never happens. Somehow, VPCM made it happen – offering upgrades with up to RM 15,000 off the asking price from the standard variants.

Following the launch of the new B8 Volkswagen Passat at the end of last year, Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has introduced two new additions to the Passat family, the Trendline PLUS and Comfortline PLUS.

With upgrades in appearance and interior offerings from the standard Passat we’ve drove in Langkawi last year, the Passat PLUS adds a sportier touch to Volkswagen’s already popular D-segment sedan. The Trendline PLUS will now come with 17-inch ‘Istanbul’ alloy wheels as opposed to the 16-inch ‘Aragon’ alloy wheels in the standard Trendline while the Comfortline PLUS will now get 18-inch ‘Monterey’ alloy wheels, a size up from the standard Comfortline’s 17-inch ‘Istanbul’ alloy wheels.

The upgrades, including window tints for both vehicles, are worth RM 8,000 for the Trendline, with upgrades for the Comfortline valued at RM 12,000.

Changes are also applied on the interior – with the Trendline PLUS getting the leather upholstery treatment, fabrics are completely eliminated from the entire Passat range. As such, the Passat can now be said to be a testament of affordability and refinement, emphasising VPCM’s commitment in providing added value to its customers.

For a limited time till the 30th of September 2017, the Passat PLUS is offered with a special interest rate from as low as 0.88% on hire purchase loans with the durations of five to nine years. To provide maximum peace of mind to customers, the entire Passat range, including the PLUS, also comes with 5-year free maintenance, or 75,000km (whichever comes first) with registrations by the 30th of September 2017

The Passat PLUS variants are each powered by a 1.8L turbocharged TSI engine with a 7-speed direct shift gearbox (DSG) to give an impressive output of 178 horsepower and a 250 Nm of torque between 1,250 to 5,000 rpm, with an impressive fuel consumption of approximately 5.7 L/100 km.

Features that make the Passat even more attractive include start/stop function, regenerative braking, electric parking brake with auto hold function and with 3-zone climatronic air conditioning for comfort. It’s high standard of safety is also retained with six airbags, driver alert system and front fog lights with cornering light functions.

The Passat Trendline PLUS retails at RM144,990, while the Passat Comfortline PLUS is RM169,980.

Regularly spend countless hours online looking at cars and parts I can't afford to buy. How a car makes you feel behind the wheel should be more important than the brand it represents - unless resale value is your thing.
