Facelifted Volkswagen Amarok gets new 3.0L V6, still absent in Malaysia

There was a time when the Volkswagen Amarok was nearly introduced to our market, but that news is old and gone now. What you’re seeing here are pictures of facelifted Amarok, and new to the pickup are the regular mid-life revisions and a bigger 3.0-litre engine.

This Europe-only Amarok (called the Amarok Aventura) gets a reworked front fascia, most notably the new headlights featuring LED DRLs and bi-xenon projectors. It rides on 20-inch wheels, behind which rests a pair of 17-inch brake discs for the front axle and 16-inch discs at the rear. Reverse camera, Park Distance Control and Automatic Post-Collision Braking System all come as standard.2016 Volkswagen Amarok - AutoBuzz.my

The range topping Amarok will be powered by a new 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged diesel V6 that can be had in three states of tunes: 161 hp, 201 hp and 221 hp. All engines are Euro6 compliant, and it can churn as much as 550 Nm of torque (that’s 130 Nm more than the 2.0-litre TDI engine) to either the rear wheels or all four wheels.

A choice of an eight-speed automatic gearbox or a manual transmission can be had. Volkswagen claims that the 3.0-litre Amarok will consume just 7.9 litres of fuel per 100km, which equates to 199 grams of carbon dioxide per kilometre travelled. Volkswagen Group Malaysia, please bring this in!
