On the weekend of 13 and 14 June 2015, Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd, through their inaugural #LoveMyRide Festival, have successfully given 500 lucky motorists the ultimate engine rejuvenating experience for their cars.
The festival, held at MATRADE Exhibition and Convention Centre, saw 378 cars receiving their oil change on Saturday, successfully etching Shell’s name into the Malaysia Book of Records (MBR) for ‘the most number of cars in a lubricant changing event within 12 hours‘, exceeding the 350-car mark set by MBR. The overall target of 500 cars was achieved the following day at 3.17 pm, when another 122 cars received the said oil change.
There were over 1,000 entries registering their interest to be part of this historic event, but only 500 were selected to be given a complete drainage of their existing oil before receiving Shell’s most advanced fully synthetic engine oil – Shell Helix Ultra with Pureplus Technology (5W-40). There’s more! Upon completion of the oil change, all 500 participants were given RM90 worth of Shell V-Power Racing, a premium fuel that is now worth RM2.90 per litre! Collectively, an estimated 6,000 litres of engine oil and 15,000 litres of Shell V-Power Racing fuel were given out on both days.
Director of Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd, Tuan Haji Azman Ismail said, “We wanted those who have never tried Shell Helix Ultra with PurePlus Technology to really experience what a motor oil made from natural gas could do for a car engine. Imagine a motor oil so pure that it cleanses your car inside out. Combine that with Shell V-Power Racing’s innovative formula and you are all set for an optimum driving experience.”
The massive oil change event wouldn’t be singing tunes of success if it wasn’t for the 100 student mechanics from Despark College and Shell Helix branded workshops. It was also an admission-free festival organised for car lovers to celebrate and share the best of Shell’s innovative solutions for the everyday journey of all Malaysians.
“This powerful combination of Shell Helix Ultra with PurePlus Technology engine oil and Shell V-Power Racing fuel was developed through a technical partnership with Scuderia Ferrari. Tried and tested on the race track, its benefits are now available for the enjoyment of every day motorists on the road,” explained Tuan Haji Azman.
Besides the oil changing fiesta, visitors and participants had the opportunity to test drive some of BMW and Mazda’s latest models; participate in an F1 race car simulator challenge and learn more about Shell lubricants at the PurePlus Mocktail Mixology sessions. Foodies took their pick from over 50 of KL’s top food trucks and gastronomic cafes, all under one roof.
There was also a flea market for everyone’s enjoyment, including the popular 3D optical illusions or street art that saw many having fun snapping pictures of themselves. Tasked with hyping up the atmosphere were live performances from local acts such as Reza Salleh, IamNEETA, Diandra Arjunaidi and Talitha Tan.
