The new Ferrari 296 Speciale, priced from RM4,288,000 (inclusive of duties but excluding options, registration, and insurance), has just arrived in Malaysia, but if you’re planning to buy one… Sorry, they’re all sold out! Allocations for Malaysia were all already snapped up by loyal (and wealthy) Ferraristi, but fret not, we still have a gallery of photos here to serve as eye candy.
As its name suggests, the Speciale is the more potent sibling to the regular Ferrari 296. To that end, the 296 Speciale gets an upgraded version of the 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 engine from the standard car, with changes such as reinforced pistons, titanium conrods, and a lightened crankshaft, along with increased boost pressure and improved boost management systems. Altogether, the updates have raised its outputs up to 700 hp and 755 Nm.
Paired together with an electric motor, the Ferrari 296 Speciale puts down a combined 880 hp, which is 50 hp more than what the standard 296 GTB manages, and cements a new record for the 296 Speciale as the most powerful rear-wheel-drive production Ferrari to date, according to Maranello.
Altogether, this enables a 0-100 km/h time of a blistering 2.98 seconds, 0-200 km/h in 7.0 seconds, before reaching a top speed of 330 km/h.
Paired together with its tricked-out aerodynamic bits, the Ferrari 296 Speciale is 2.0 seconds faster than the 296 GTB’s best lap around Fiorano, and matches the time set by the significantly more powerful and expensive SF90 Stradale!
