The Mercedes-Maybach EQS680 SUV has just been launched in Malaysia. Despite being essentially the most expensive electric vehicle (EV) SUV on sale here, it’s also the ‘cheapest’ Maybach you can buy starting from just RM1,088,000 on-the-road (OTR) without insurance – although that is without any of the optional extras added in.
Even though it looks like a Mercedes-Benz EQS from all angles, it’s still very much a Mercedes-Maybach with the trademark aesthetics found in the distinctive front grille, taillights, 21-inch alloy wheels, and of course, Maybach emblems and badging littered all throughout the exterior.
If shiny chrome isn’t your thing, there is also another variant called the Mercedes-Maybach EQS Night Series, which will black out the sparkly chrome with dark chrome bits instead.

The inside of the car is screens galore, made thanks to the infotainment system that is the MBUX Hyperscreen. Up front, the massive dashboard is separated into three different digital displays: a 12.3-inch digital cluster, followed by a whopping 17.7-inch central display screen, and a 12.3-inch front passenger display.
Meanwhile at the back seats, passengers riding behind in the first-class executive seats also get their own screen, with each one built into the headrest of the front seats. Additionally, the rear seat passengers are treated to privileges such as a fridge found in the centre armrest.

The Mercedes-Maybach EQS680 SUV is powered by two electric motors – one each on both axles. Altogether, it puts out 658 hp and 950 Nm of torque that can easily do a 0-100 km/h sprint in 4.4 seconds, plus a 210 km/h top speed.
What makes the motors churn out this much power is a 125 kWh (gross) lithium-ion battery, which gives the Mercedes-Maybach EQS680 SUV a WLTP-rated range of 600 km. Charging is supported at 22 kW AC and 200 kW DC, with DC charging juicing up the battery pack from 10% to 80% in 31 minutes.
