2016 Citroen C3 introduced, gets up to 36 unique colour combo!

Citroen has unveiled the third-generation C3 supermini, and it’s everything fashionable. In a crowded segment with the likes of the Ford Fiesta and Volkswagen Polo, the new Citroen C3 brings flamboyance and distinctive personality to the table. Just take a look at its side ‘airbump’ panels!

Based on Citroen’s ‘Platform A’  shared together with the C3 Cactus, the new C3 is strictly a five-seater hatchback. The C3’s overall length is just 0.01mm short of being 4 metres long, with an extra 20mm shoulder room and a wheelbase of 2,540mm. Boot space is decent for a B-Segment supermini at 300 litres.2017-citroen-c3 (3)

The new C3 borrows bits and parts from existing Citroen models, beginning with the fascia that mirrors the C4 Picasso. It also gets the familiar LED daytime running lights, while the headlamps are positioned below them – just like the quirky Cactus. The C3’s rear is a close resemblance of the Cactus as well.

Now let’s talk about the airbump kink. These “bubble wrap” panels that look like band aids are made of thermoplastic polyurethane, a flexible plastic filled with small air pockets. It’s designed as a shield against daily obstacles, preventing minor bumps and scrapes that occur while opening the doors.

Just like the outgoing C3, buyers can customise the exterior paint through nine available body colours and three roof colours. Citroen claims that the colour offering gives customers up to 36 possible colour combinations.2017-citroen-c3 (10)

Inside, the C3 gets a modern infused retro theme. Conventional dials aside, it receives a 7.0-inch touchscreen that supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink. New to the C3 that should impress the young is the ConnectedCam, a wide-angle camera mounted in the rear-view mirror. The camera connects to the infotainment system, allowing the occupants to shoot videos or photos that can be shared on social media. Is this the ultimate solution for taking a selfie while on the road?

In the powertrain department, the C3 receives three PureTech three-cylinder petrol engines and two BlueHDi oil burners. All engines are paired to a standard six-speed manual transmission, but other markets (like Malaysia) will get the EAT6 six-speed automatic transmission as standard.

Pricing for the C3 has yet to be announced at press time, but the car will hit selected showrooms by 2017. Meanwhile, the C3 is no longer on sale in Malaysia but its nearest equivalent, the DS3, can be had for RM121,888.00.
