Mitsubishi Malaysia issues recalls for CBU models: Lancer range and ASX involved

Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) has announced the commencement of their Field Fix Campaign – basically a nationwide recall – for the Lancer, Lancer Sportback, Lancer Evolution and ASX manufactured between 2007 and 2010.

Before you start panicking, let’s be clear about one thing – only the imported (CBU) units of the said models are affected by the recall. For the locally assembled ASX owners, you’re spared.

The purpose of this campaign is to inspect the V-ribbed belt or serpentine belt (not to be confused with timing belt) and brake booster (the latter applies only to the CBU ASX), and if the parts are found to be faulty, it will be replaced without charge.

Labour costs incurred will also be borne by the company should replacement be deemed necessary. Affected Mitsubishi owners who have received a notification letter are encouraged to send their cars in for inspection. Are you one of them?
