2020 Honda Civic facelift to be launched in Malaysia this Wednesday

According to a Facebook post by Honda Malaysia, the brand has revealed that the 2020 Honda Civic facelift will be launched in Malaysia this Wednesday.

The updated Honda Civic has been open for booking since September last year, and the updated car was also on display for preview during an event in the same month.

If you’re looking for differences between the facelift and pre-facelift models, the most notable change will be up front – the Honda Civic now features a black “wing” grille, along with an updated bumper design.

At the back, the 2020 Honda Civic receives an updated bumper garnish, along with a new trunk spoiler, exclusive to the 1.5TC Premium variant. The 16-inch wheels on the entry-level 1.8S variant has been redesigned, while the 1.5TC Premium variant gets new 18-inch alloy wheels.

Under the hood, powertrain options are unchanged from before. The 1.8S is powered by a 1.8-litre four cylinder engine, producing 141 hp and 174 Nm, while the 1.5TC and 1.5TC-P variants are powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged four cylinder mill, pushing out 173 hp and 220 Nm of torque.

Both engines are paired to Honda’s Earth Dreams technology CVT gearbox. Performance figures are also unchanged, with the 1.8S variant taking 10.4 seconds to complete the century sprint; the 1.5TC variants does it in 8.2 seconds.

New to the Honda Civic is the Honda LaneWatch camera. The camera-based system is said to be an improvement over regular blind-spot monitoring systems, and is available from the 1.5TC variant and higher. All variants of the updated Honda Civic also now get front parking sensors as standard.

The highlight of the 2020 Honda Civic facelift is definitely the Honda Sensing advanced driver assistance suite, available on the 1.5TC-P variant.
