Subaru Levorg facelift goes on sale in Japan, 1.6 & 2.0L turbo with EyeSight!

Subaru has just introduced the facelifted Subaru Levorg in its home market, Japan and it’s equipped with advanced safety systems, mechanical improvements and aesthetic revisions. The versatile wagon now offers greater levels of safety and performance.

To refresh the three-year-old design, Subaru gave the Levorg a new horizontal slat front grille, reshaped bumper, full LED headlamps and fog lamps as well as 18-inch aluminium alloy wheels. The range topping STI Sport variant comes with the Aerokit as standard, which adds on a mesh grille, sportier front bumper skirt as well as a rear diffuser. Other variants of the Levorg can have the Aerokit as an option.

Inside, there’s a new 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with GPS navigation, 5.9-inch multifunctional Colour Liquid Display and instrument cluster decoration panel. Elsewhere, the Levorg facelift benefits from new front console, centre panel, two-tone door switch panel, door handles and one touch folding rear seats (40:20:40). Fabric seats on lower range models now come equipped with heating function.

The Levorg range remains powered by a 1.6- and 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder boxer engine, producing 168 hp/250 Nm and 296 hp/400 Nm respectively. The former is mated to a Lineartronic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) while the latter is equipped with a Sports Lineartronic CVT. Drive is sent to all four corners via the company’s famous Symmetrical all-wheel drive.

Mechanically, the Levorg facelift gets revised suspension settings (except STI Sport), electric power steering settings and ECU optimisation (1.6-litre only) to provide greater driving engagement as well as enhanced comfort over long distances. Besides that, Subaru has also fitted the Levorg with better sound deadening materials and high performance brake pads.

As reported earlier, all variants of the Levorg facelift get the updated EyeSight driver assist system with Touring Assist function as standard. On top of the existing Pre-collision Braking Control, Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Departure Prevention Assist, Touring Assists adds autonomous driving operable at speeds of up to 120 km/h.

A total of six variants and eight colour options are currently on sale in Japan. Prices start from ¥2.83 million (RM107k) to ¥4.05 million (RM154k). Locally, Subaru Malaysia has the pre-facelift Levorg 1.6 GTS on sale. Knowing its fully imported from Japan, we may see the facelift arriving to our shores very soon.
