About a year ago we featured the news in which the Proton Satria Neo S2000 versus an helicopter as part of the pre rally activities before Rally of Queensland, Australia, under the Asia Pacific Rally Championship (APRC). Proton Motorsports continued their annual tradition in Queensland with a race with the helicopter, in which in their first race in 2010, they won. However last year, they lost narrowly to the Eurocopter BK117.

Proton versus the chopper, part 3!

Just recently, they staged a rematch with the same car and same helicopter, with driving duties from Alistair McRae and PG Andersson. Proton Satria Neo S2000 is powered by 2.0 litre NA, 4wd, 300hp, with weight of 1,260kg. Eurocopter BK-117 meanwhile is powered by 2 turbo shaft engines producing almost 4 times the power of the Satria Neo S2000 at 1,186hp, but heavier at 1,727kg.

Presenting to us on this year’s race is Alistair McRae’s co driver, Bill Hayes, who will become the commentator of the race. Well unfortunately I may have spoilt the race results as per title, but still, what a marvelous morale booster for the team prior the Rally Queensland, something which the team needs after the dreadful Rally New Caledonia a month also.
