India, is famous for their world’s cheapest car, the Tata Nano. Now, they are about to have their first ever sportscar (?!), the DC Design Avanti.

DC Design is an automotive design company founded by former GM designer Dilip Chhabria. The Avanti will not only be just a design or prototype, as it will be in production in 2013. Chhabria said that DC Design will be manufacturing 300 units of the Avanti in 2013-2014 and increase annual production to four figures if everything goes well.

Constructed using a lightweight but strong spaceframe chassis, this all-Indian-made sportscar was unveiled at the 2012 New Delhi Auto Expo. Powered by a mid-engine 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder EcoBoost engine by Ford it delivers a mere 240HP only?? and 366Nm (270 lb-ft) of torque. It comes with Ford-sourced six-speed manual gearbox, and will be optionally available with a dual-clutch PowerShift transmission.

This 240HP sportscar, which isn’t really as powerful as a sportscar should be is priced around US$56,000. In very new future, it may also be offered with a turbocharged Honda V6, which has an output of around 400HP.

We seriously can’t wait to see this sportscar being tested in Top Gear by Jeremy Clarkson.

To be brutally honest, it does look like a mangled bastard child of a 458 Italia + R8

Maybe it was a 3-way, with a 911. Just look at it!!!
