The final round of the Formula Drift Asia 2011 comes this weekend on the 17th and 18th of December 2011, to the streets of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia where the 3 round Asian Premier’s drift competition takes place in Dataran Merdeka. FD Asia has been running for three years in Malaysia and this is the second year where the tight and tricky street road of Dataran Merdeka will be used for drifting competition.
Indonesian tyre maker Achilles takes over as the main sponsor of the event and this round will bring 41 drifters from Japan, Australia, Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia to compete for top honours. The superb entry list includes last year FD Asia Malaysia winner and leading driver of the FD Asia 2011, Daigo Saito of Japan, Dajiro Yoshihara, FD USA 2011 champion and FD Asia 2010 judge, Manubu Orido, Super GT driver and Japanese drift legend (also a protégé of drift legend Keichi Tsuchiya) and many more top drivers from the Asian region. Unfortunately Tengku Djan, FD Asia’s champion for 2009 and 2010, will not take part in this round but there are plenty of talented Malaysian drivers like Ser Ming Hui, Tan Tat Wei, Ivan Lau, Arif Johanis and many more to raise the home country’s flag in this competition.
