During the beginning of 2011, we can associate these three motor sports legends like Michael Schumacher, Valentino Rossi and Sebastien Loeb together as they are 7 times world champion in their respective fields. However the similarity ends recently as rally legend Sebastien Loeb has clinched his eighth World Rally Championship (WRC) title for the eighth year consecutively from 2003 to 2011. What’s even better is, he did it in.. quite an odd style.

Instead of winning the final round of WRC in Wales, UK, he however failed to finish the rally after involving in a rather odd accident over a blind crest with another passenger car while on their way to the padlock before day three of rallying commence. This sadly damaged the car which is beyond repair, causing the Frenchman to retire from the rally. However that doesn’t matter as the Citroen already took the title on day two of the rally on Friday after close rival, Mikko Hirvonen, crashed out his Ford Fiesta. The rally was won by Jari-Matti Latvala of Ford. Notably, Ken Block finished his rally on 9th place.

With that, Sebastien Loeb and co driver, Daniel Elena, have already created history as the most dominant and perhaps the greatest rally driver in the world. Loeb will continue to drive for Citroen, and Elena will be continuing his co driver services to Loeb for the 2012 season. Until then, congratulations over their eighth title!
