For those who are avid open wheel racing fans, they must have heard of a famous open wheel car race called the IndyCar series in America and some parts of the world. The race is well known in United States which explains Formula One has lack of appeal there. Unlike F1, all the cars use the similar chassis and similar 650HP V8 Honda engines. The Indy race has many famous drivers, including former F1 drivers and the one and only female open wheel race driver, Danica Patrick.
However, our news this time does not involve Danica but Tony Kanaan, the Brazilian driver who drives for KV technology racing team, which is interestingly sponsored by Group Lotus. On last weekend’s street race at Baltimore, during the warm up, he literally launches his car after losing the brakes, hitting on fellow competitor, Helio Castroneves, and crashed into the tyre barriers.
Amazingly, he took KV Racing team-mate EJ Viso’s spare car for the race, after the team mechanics scrambled to prepare the replacement car for Tony. However, that prompted him to start in last position. Hence he drove like being possessed, overtaking over 15 drivers over the tight street circuit. With his perfect timing pit stops and steered determination, he finished the race in third. The race was won by a awesomely named Will Power, followed by the ever popular hottie Danica Patrick.
This man wrecked his car before the race, started last on grid and finished third. RESPECT!
Tony Kanaan, the true zero to hero race who deserves our salute. Here’s the frightening video, see Tony’s flying car flies over. Now everyone can fly? Oops wrong Tony.
