The Australian V8 Supercars series at Barbagallo, Perth started with a bang! A loud and real one in fact, even before the first corner of the race. A stalled Holden Cammodore at the grid driven by Karl Reindler was slammed from behind by Steve Owen in a Holden Cammodore as well. Both Holdens immediately exploded in a massive ball of fire.

Data from the accident revealed that Owen was already at almost 150 kph at the collision, and the impact was a staggering 37G! Reindler suffered burns to his hands and face, while Owen suffered only abdominal soreness. Fortunately both are reported to be recovering well.
