Smart + Apparatjik = electriCITY! Smart has caught a fever recently and came out with this electric two-seater in a glitzy ‘disco-ball’ look. Disco fever it is. The fever project is by Apparatjik, an European electro rock band, consisting of world-famous musicians, bassist Guy Berryman from Coldplay, guitarist/keyboardist Magne Furuholmen from A-ha, singer/guitarist Jonas Bjerre of Mew and producer Martin Terefe.

Apparatjik approached Smart about sponsoring the band’s tour, thus the art car came up from the discussions. The Smart ForTwo is completely covered in reflective glass tiles from the roof to the rims and the windows also feature a mirror finish. It took seven craftsmen three days to complete the project.

The car is featured in a music video short film as part of the pseudo-band’s “Apparatjik Light Space Modulator” display at the Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin. It’s intended as a tribute to German architect Mies van der Rohe, who was responsible not only for the gallery itself but also for New York’s Seagram Building, among others.

Yes yes, we all know how much you love disco balls.. but no, you can’t get one of these.
