Video: The new 1.5-litre C-Class surprised us! – AutoVlog

Right off the launch of the facelifted Mercedes-Benz C-Class range, we joined Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) on a leisure drive to sample their heavily revised C 200 Avantgarde and see whether is the new tech and 1.5-litre powerplant is any good.

The C 200 gains a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine making 184 hp and 280 Nm of twist but the downsized engine (from 2.0-litre in the pre-facelift C 200) gains an EQ Boost Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) that supplements 13 hp and 160 Nm of torque. Century sprint is done in 7.7 seconds and the rear-wheel drive C 200 will still hit 239 km/h at maximum velocity as it rows up the nine-speed 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission.

The C-Class range benefits from revised exterior styling and significantly more tech in the cabin with its 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 10.25-inch Command Online media display, 64-colour ambient lighting, Blind Spot Assist and more.

Prices for the facelifted Mercedes-Benz C 200 Avantgarde Line starts from RM259,888 (OTR without insurance) and if you want to treat yourself to something a little fancier, MBM also offers the C-Class in C 300 AMG Line and Mercedes-AMG C 43 4MATIC guises.
