Audi’s next-gen infotainment system will let you stream movies in the car

In-car, connectivity is all the buzz these days as we spend disproportionately long hours in our vehicle commute. Carmakers are looking to capitalise this by offering a more seamless integration between smart devices and the car’s infotainment system.

Audi has just announced that they will be showcasing the brand’s next-generation in-car entertainment concepts that will turn the cabin into “an amusement park” at the 2019 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) happening in Las Vegas between 8 and 11 January 2019.

As future Audi models become even more connected, the four rings want to show how a car ride can be turned into a digital entertainment experience. This in-car entertainment works in the prerequisite that during automated driving, occupants will have “idle” time in the car which opens up the opportunity for the occupants to catch a movie or consume video content during the journey.

Audi calls this the “Audi Immersive In-Car Entertainment” that provides entertainment such as Hollywood blockbusters or content provided by streaming services while the car is stationary or driving autonomously. Welcome to the next-generation drive-in movie theatre.
