The wait is soon to be over as Proton confirmed that their first-ever SUV will be officially launched on 12 December 2018. We got up close and personal with the Proton X70 at the 2018 Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show and even got to try out the GKUI’s “Hi Proton” Voice Command function:
There will be four variants of the X70 available starting from the Standard 2WD, Executive 2WD, Executive AWD and Premium 2WD. All variants are powered by the same 1.8-litre turbocharged four-cylinder T-GDI petrol engine and six-speed automatic pushing out 183 hp and 285 Nm of torque. Drive is sent to the front wheels by default while all-wheel-drive option is available for the Executive variant.
The features available on the X70 puts this SUV the most high-tech and premium car to bear the Proton badge. Standard equipment includes an LCD instrument cluster, 8.0-inch GKUI touchscreen infotainment system, dual-zone automatic climate control with Clean Air ioniser, electronic parking brake, Drive Mode selector and even Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) on the most expensive Premium 2WD model.
