BMW M8 Coupe gets 4.4L twin-turbo V8 with over 600 hp & M xDrive AWD

BMW’s latest 8 Series Coupe will spawn a fire-breathing M8 variant powered by a 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8. The first-ever BMW M8 will be available as a Coupe, Convertible and four-door Gran Coupe.

The M8’s 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 is expected to produce over 600 hp and will feature a fully variable M xDrive all-wheel-drive system that is rear-wheel bias by default with the option to be purely rear-wheel driven – a similar set up to the F90 M5.

Mechanically, the M8 gets M-specific chassis tuning for maximum dynamic prowess in the form of M Servotronic steering, M compound brakes (395 mm front, 380 mm rear) with the option for carbon-ceramic items (400 mm front, 380 mm rear), wider front track as well as bespoke suspension mountings for better stability.

Familiar M styling cues will take shape in the form of larger air intakes, aerodynamically optimised bumpers and 19-inch M light alloy wheels with the option to be upgraded to 20-inch items wrapped with M-specific ultra-high-performance rubbers.

The new BMW M8 Coupe is expected to make its market debut sometime in 2019 with other body styles to follow in due course.
