UMW Toyota recalls Toyota 86 over faulty Engine Valve Spring, 120 units affected

UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) has just issued a recall campaign for Toyota 86 manufactured 2012 to 2013 to replace a potentially faulty Engine Valve Spring. A total of 120 units of Toyota 86 sold and distributed through official UMWT distributors are involved in this Special Service Campaign (SSC).

Due to the discrepancy in design assumption and manufacturing variation, when the engine performance load exceeds the Engine Valve Spring’s fatigue strength it may potentially fracture resulting in the engine to stall and unable to restart.

UMWT will notify all affected vehicle owners and perform the repair and replacement for free. Owners of affected cars can contact any authorised Toyota service centre or call the Toyota Freephone at 1800-88-69682. All Toyota Owners can look up whether their vehicles are involved in any recall campaign by keying in their VIN/Chassis number here.
