UMW Toyota recalls 2,400 units of Vios, Altis & Camry over Takata airbag replacement

UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) has just announced a new Special Service Campaign involving 2,400 Toyota vehicles manufactured between 2001 to 2003 that have had their Takata airbag inflators replaced between 2013 to 2014.

According to UMWT, although these vehicles were subjected to an airbag recall between 2013 to 2014, these vehicles were replaced with a defective airbag inflator produced by Takata. This recall will again rectify and replace all these killer airbags with new and improved components. Affected models are listed as below:

Model Year Made
Toyota Vios May – June 2003
Toyota Corolla Altis July 2001 – June 2003
Toyota Camry June 2002 – March 2003

UMWT will notify all its affected vehicle owners officially and perform the relevant replacement and repairs at zero cost to the owner. Owners of affected cars can contact any authorised Toyota service centre or call the Toyota Freephone at 1800-88-69682. Alternatively, all Toyota Owners can look up whether their vehicles are involved in any recall campaign by keying in their VIN/Chassis number here.
