In the fast-growing SUV segment, buyers are spoilt for choice when it comes to premium mid-sized SUVs. Our pick of the lot that went on a 2,000 km round trip around the Peninsular during the inaugural 2018 Cars of Malaysia tour was this Volvo XC60 T8 Inscription Plus.
Jammed pack with the full suite of advanced driver assist systems and semi-autonomous driving capabilities that are standard across the XC60 range, gave it the highest score in the Safety department. The 2018 World of the Year winner also comes in a very high specification for the Malaysian market, with three variants on offer – T5, T8 Inscription and T8 Inscription Plus – to suit different buyers.
The T8 Inscription Plus is powered by a 2.0-litre TwinEngine plug-in hybrid petrol engine that makes a combined output of 407 hp and 640 Nm of twist while the T5 packs a conventional 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine making 254 hp and 350 Nm of twist. An eight-speed automatic and all-wheel-drive is standard across the range.
