Following the “unveiling” of the first-ever Proton X70 SUV, one crucial piece of forum thread detailing the “price and variants” of the Proton SUV. But Proton has released an official statement on their Facebook page that this piece of information is not true.
In the thread, the poster detailed that there will be four variants of the X70 available with a starting price of RM85k for the entry-level variant to RM138k for the highest specification Premium 2WD variant. The thread also highlighted key specification of the X70 but as Proton claims, none of them is reliable information:
We at AutoBuzz.my can confirm that all variants of the X70 will be powered by a 1.8-litre turbocharged direct injection four-cylinder engine paired to a six-speed automatic pushing out 181 hp and 265 Nm of torque. Proton has also confirmed that they will mimic the product strategy of the Honda CR-V by offering two-wheel drive on the range-topping Premium model while an all-wheel-drive alternative is offered on the Executive spec one grade below.

Proton will reveal full details of the Proton X70 range in due course but for now, the company is embarking on a two-month long tour to display the X70 in Kuala Lumpur, Ipoh, Penang, Kuantan, Johor Bahru, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu.
