Gallery: Proton X70 first official photos, Proton’s first ever SUV

This is it folks, fresh from the floors of Proton Design studio, the first-ever Proton SUV. It is officially named as the Proton X70, the first alphanumeric naming sequence for the national carmaker which will spearhead the naming logic for future Proton models.

Based on the highly successful Geely Boyue that was previewed in Malaysia last year, the X70 features design input from local Proton designers which resulted in the final product you see here. Notable changes from the Boyue are the front grille, tailgate trim with Proton badge, restyled interior covers and a Proton badge on the steering wheel.

Previewed here is the top of the line X70 Premium and the X70 Executive AWD. The top of the line model comes with all the bells and whistles such as Nappa leather upholstery, six USB charging ports, panoramic sunroof, voice command and 360-degree camera.

The X70 Executive loses out on Nappa leather upholstery and panoramic sunroof but retains the 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 225/60 profile Hankook DynaPro HP2 tyres, LED fog lamps as well as projector headlamps. All variants of the X70 does not come with a powered tailgate.

Bookings of the X70 opens from 8 September 2018 onwards at selected Proton dealers nationwide. This media preview marks the start of a two-month product campaign of their first ever SUV with an official launch scheduled for before the end of the year.
