All-electric Audi e-Tron SUV goes into production, world premiere in Sept

Yesterday we witness Mercedes-Benz’s first ever fully-electric SUV, the Mercedes-Benz EQC 400 and the four-rings did not want to be left behind in this technological race by announcing the start of production of the new Audi e-Tron SUV.

The first all-electric SUV from Audi are assembled at the brand’s Brussels plant and Audi will present the production-ready car to the world for the first time in San Francisco on 17 September 2018. The Brussels facility has been comprehensively upgraded to cater to the production of electric vehicles and it is also the world’s first certified CO2-neutral mass production plant in the premium segment.

The e-Tron SUV features a triple motor set up that is juiced by a 95-kWh battery pack, giving the e-Quattro all-wheel-drive EV over 400 hp and a century sprint time of 4.5 seconds. The e-Tron is capable to be plugged into a 150 kW high-speed charger allowing it to gain more than 400 km of driving range in 30 minutes.

Audi UK has already begun accepting orders for the Audi e-Tron and the all-electric SUV will compete against the likes of Tesla Model X, Jaguar I-Pace and Mercedes-Benz EQ 400 in the premium EV segment.
