At the launch of the Mercedes-AMG GT C and Mercedes-Benz CLS, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) also revealed the E-Class Cabriolet, joining the existing E-Class sedan and coupe.
Priced at RM588k, there will only be one variant of the E 300 Cabriolet AMG Line available for purchase. Motivation comes from the same 2.0-litre turbocharged four-pot capable of 245 hp and 370 Nm of torque. Power is transferred exclusively to the rear wheels via a nine-speed 9G-Tronic automatic transmission. Century sprint is completed in 6.5 seconds onwards to a governed top speed of 250 km/h.

Visually, the cabriolet is identical to the coupe save for the foldable acoustic soft top that is available in either dark brown, dark blue, red or black. Elsewhere it wears the AMG Line exterior with diamond front grille, Multibeam LED headlamps, 19-inch five-spoke AMG alloy wheels and a Sports exhaust system.
The soft top that is derived from the S-Class Cabriolet can be opened or closed in 20 seconds at speeds of up to 50 km/h. With the roof up, the E Cabriolet can stuff up to 385 litres of cargo but that shrinks to 310 litres with the roof opened. The rear seats now come with a 50:50 folding function that adds to everyday practicality.
Inside, you will be greeted with Nappa leather upholstery, Widescreen cockpit, Nappa leather multifunctional sports steering wheel, open-pore black ash wood trim, Command Online with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, Burmester surround sound system, 64-colour ambient lighting, heads-up display, Cabriolet Comfort package with Airscarf function and Air-Balance package.
On the safety front, standard equipment reads seven airbags, roll-over protection system, Parking Pilot with PARKTRONIC, Lane Tracking package, Blind Spot Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist and 360-degree camera.
