Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) has finally introduced the facelifted Mercedes-Benz S-Class to our local market after the refreshed limousine made its global premiere in July 2017. The W222 generation S-Class that represents the pinnacle of luxury in the three-pointed star line up gains revised styling, new technologies as well as more new powertrain options.
Unlike the pre-facelift model, MBM has trimmed the variant line up to a sole S 450 L AMG Line, dropping the popular and attractively priced (CKD hybrid tax incentives) S 400h from the facelift line up. Despite the RM100k premium over the old S 400h, rest assured you’re getting nothing but the best on the S 450 L AMG Line.

The most obvious visual differences on the refreshed S-Class are the headlamp design that now houses triple LED daytime running as opposed to a single bar from before. The taillamps have also been updated with a stardust effect to complement the more angular and sharper AMG body kit.
As standard the S 450 L comes equipped with Multibeam LED headlamps, 20-inch 10-spoke AMG lightweight alloys, head- and noise-insulating glass as well as twin exhaust outlets. Customers have the option to have their S-Class painted in a Designo Paint finish for an additional RM6,000.
Inside, the locally assembled S-Class features leather upholstery, panoramic sunroof, multifunctional sports steering wheel with touch-sensitive buttons, Widescreen Cockpit, high-gloss brown eucalyptus wood trim and AMG floor mats.
Feel good items include 64-colour ambient lighting, Air-Balance package, executive seats, powered rear seats with memory function, Burmester surround sound system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging tray for front and rear passengers as well as rear seat entertainment.
The S 450 L is powered by a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine that develops 367 hp and 500 Nm of torque. Power is sent exclusively to the rear wheels via a nine-speed 9G-Tronic automatic transmission to allow the limousine to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds with an electronically governed top speed of 250 km/h. Airmatic suspension is a standard fitment on the S 450 L.
Safety wise, the S-Class comes with the latest array of driver assistance systems including Distronic Plus, Active Distance Control Distronic and Active Steering Assist that allows the S-Class to have semi-autonomous driving capabilities at speeds of up to 210 km/h.
All purchase of the Mercedes-Benz S 450 L comes with a 4-Years warranty and is eligible for Agility Financing from Mercedes-Benz Financial Service which brings down the monthly instalment (with service package) to RM8,888.
