After previewing it earlier this year, the third-generation Porsche Cayenne is now officially on sale in Malaysia – with two variants to choose from – the base Cayenne and the more powerful Cayenne S.
The base model serves up 340 hp, 40 hp more than its predecessor with 450 Nm of torque from its 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 engine. The Cayenne S on the other hand, takes things up a notch with 440 hp and 550 Nm from its 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6. Both engines are mated to an 8-speed Tiptronic S transmission with active all-wheel drive.
For the heavy footers off the line, the base model Cayenne will sprint to 100 km/h in just a whisker over six seconds (top speed 245 km/h) while the more muscular Cayenne S will do the same run in just over five seconds (top speed 265 km/h). Opt for the Sport Chrono Package and you’d see a dip of 0.3 seconds on both times.
Driving aids include the Porsche 4D Chassis Control, PASM air suspension (standard on the Cayenne S), rear-wheel steering, Porsche Traction Management and the Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC). With the redeveloped Sport Chrono Package, it also includes a separate PSM Sport Mode.
The Cayenne is available with the optional Porsche Surface Coated brake (PSCB) – a world first – consisting of a cast iron disc with tungsten-carbide coating, complemented by 10-pot callipers in the front. The finish increases friction with significantly reduced brake wear and dust.
LED headlights are standard, with an optional upgrade for the Porsche Dynamic Light System while the back features redesigned rear lights with three-dimensional light design. Wheels sizes start from 19-inches up to 21-inches (optional).
Inside, the Cayenne gets the Porsche Advanced Cockpit treatment, a new 12.3-inch full HD touchscreen with the latest Porsche Communication Management (PCM) introduced in the 2017 Panamera. The tachometer, on the other hand, is flanked by two 7-inch full HD displays.
Prices for the Cayenne starts from RM 745,000 while the Cayenne S starts from RM 890,000. Prices are zero-rated GST and includes a 4-year warranty and free maintenance package which includes complimentary service, parts and labour.
