Honda Malaysia will be co-operating with the Ministry of Transport (MOT) and Road Transport Department (JPJ) with emphasis on the replacement of affected Takata airbag inflators. RM 300 summons will be issued to those who ignore the recalls.
Customers are encouraged to urgently replace their affected Takata front airbag inflators as it might rupture when activated, potentially causing injury or fatality to the driver and passenger.
The replacement of the affected Takata airbag inflators are FREE OF CHARGE and any cost related to Takata airbag inflator replacements will be borne by Honda Malaysia.
Stock availability for replacement parts is at 100% and the affected airbag inflators can be replaced at any of the 92 Honda authorised service dealers nationwide. Customers are highly recommended to make an appointment with Honda authorised service centres to enable priority and avoid delays or setbacks for the replacement works.
Replacement activities can also be done at Mobile Hubs at selected shopping malls and Petronas stations and DO NOT require advance appointments.
Honda Malaysia will also be extending the replacement of Takata airbag inflators to parallel imported Honda vehicles not sold by them. These owners are advised to refer their vehicles to Honda authorised dealers and if replacements are required, costs of parts and labour will be borne by Honda Malaysia.
As at July 2, 2018, Honda Malaysia has completed more than 228,000 units of Takata driver front airbag inflator replacements which translates to 87% completion ratio. The total number of Takata driver and passenger front airbag inflator replacements completed is at more than 465,000 units or 79% completion ratio.
Honda Malaysia would like to affirm that the current selling line-up of Honda vehicles are not affected as they do not have the same type of Takata airbag inflators as previous models affected in the recall.
