Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has just announced that the order books for the exclusive Volkswagen Golf R 3-door is now open. Only 10 units of the 3-door hot hatch will be officially offered by VPCM and they are priced at RM268,888, RM10k lesser than the standard 5-door hatch.
The new Golf R variant comes decently equipped, unlike the MK7 Golf R 3-door that had a “poverty spec” trim level. Offered exclusively in Lapiz Blue, standard equipment includes LED headlamps and taillamps with dynamic indicators, 19-inch Pretoria alloy wheels, 12.3-inch Active Info Display, 9.2-inch Discover Pro infotainment system and R “Vienna” leather upholstery.
Only three items KESSY keyless entry, exterior mirror memory function and power-adjustable driver seat were omitted from the equipment list. Otherwise, you still get the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged TSI engine and seven-speed wet clutch DSG combo with 290 hp and 380 Nm of torque. Drive is transferred to all four wheels via the 4MOTION all-wheel drive system.
Managing Director of VPCM, Erik Winter said: “This truly is an opportunity for enthusiasts to be part of something special, as the 3-door Golf R is a rare beast here in Malaysia. With such a cult following, we are confident that all 10 units will be sold very quickly.”
