McLaren Automotive celebrated the production of its 15,000th car at the McLaren Production Centre (MPC) in Surrey, England – just seven years after production first began.
The 15,000th unit is a 570S Spider from the Sports Series in Curacao Blue, comes less than 18 months after the 10,000th car was completed in December 2016.
Production has doubled from around 10 cars a day to 20, since the introduction of a second production shift in 2016, with 90% of the factory’s produce exported to more than 30 markets around the world.
McLaren achieved record sales last year, selling a total of 3,340 cars – a figure the British sportscar maker attributes to the launch of two new models – the 570S Spider and the 720S from the Super Series.
