Shortly after accepting orders for the fifth-generation Nissan Serena S-Hybrid, Edaran Tan Chong Motor (ETCM) has officially launched the seven-seater MPV at the concourse of 1 Utama Shopping Centre. As per the preview, there will be two variants on offer: Highway Star and Premium Highway Star.
A piece of good news for those considering the Serena S-Hybrid, ETCM has officially announced that the new MPV will carry a price tag of RM135,500 for the Highway Star and RM147,500 for the Premium Highway Star; lower than the initially indicated price tag of RM140k to RM155k.

EXTERIOR
The Serena adopts Nissan’s new generation global design which resulted in a sporty and modern styling. Our local spec Serena S-Hybrid comes generously equipped with LED projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights, fog lamps, S-Shaped LED taillamp design, hands-free dual powered sliding door (operable with a kicking motion below the door), dual-back door and 15-inch alloy wheels.
The Premium Highway Star builds upon that list with larger alloy wheels (16-inch), Door Visor, 4 mill V-Kool Security Film Tinting, ThreeBond Ultra Glass Body Coating and three dual-tone exterior colour scheme: Cashmere Gold with Imperial Umber roof, Tungsten Silver with Diamond Black roof and Brilliant White with Diamond Black roof.
Highway Star buyers will get to choose between Brilliant White, Tungsten Silver, Diamond Black and Cashmere Gold for the exterior paint job.
INTERIOR
There are many first in class features for the new Serena such as seven USB charging ports, Zero Gravity Seats, 360-degree Intelligent Around View Monitor and Power Sliding Door Switch to help third-row passengers exit the car more comfortably and conveniently.
Standard equipment reads Soft Padded Instrument Panel, 7-inch Advanced Drive Assist Display (ADAD) LCD instrument cluster, flat bottom multi-functional steering wheel, 6.75-inch Clarion Advanced Touchscreen Display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, keyless entry and start, dual-zone automatic climate control and rear digital climate control panel.
Stepping up into the Premium Highway Star and you’ll find Leather Seats (two-tone Truffle Brown and Chestnut or single-tone black), 10.1-inch roof-mounted LCD panel for rear passengers, Tech-on Tray Mat tables and Driving Video Recorder.
PERFORMANCE
Under the hood is an improved MR20DD 2.0-litre Twin CVTC (Continuously Variable-Valve Timing Control) four-cylinder petrol hybrid system paired to an XTRONIC CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) to send 150 hp and 200 Nm of torque to the front wheels.
The upgraded engine benefits from a new Dual Arm Tensioner and improved ECO motor to give the car better performance and fuel economy. The improved hybrid system is said to give the MPV best-in-class fuel economy of 14.2 km/L, based on the New European Driving Cycle.
SAFETY
Safety-wise, all variants of the Serena S-Hybrid comes equipped with six airbags, ABS with EBD, Brake Assist, Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), Traction Control System (TCS), Hill Start Assist (HSA), two ISOFIX mounting points, Driver Attention Alert as well as Intelligent Moving Object Detection (I-MOD) that detects moving objects surrounding the vehicle. Nissan’s ProPilot semi-autonomous driving technology will not make an appearance here.
WHAT ELSE?
All purchase of the Nissan Serena S-Hybrid comes with a 5-Years Unlimited Mileage Warranty. ETCM is also throwing in a 3-Years or 60,000 km maintenance service package and as part of the launch campaign. First 500 customers who registered their Serena S-Hybrid will also receive a complimentary Terzo Portable Cooler Box by PIAA worth RM500.
