Video: Driving the Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 race car on Sepang

Always expect the unexpected; change is the only constant; these are the common phrases people tell us when it comes to life’s ever-changing circumstances.

In this line of work, it’s a given that we get to try out the newest cars in the industry but this, this was on a completely different level –  it wasn’t just any Aston Martin but Team CMRT Eurasia’s championship-winning V12 Vantage GT3 race car.

The V12 Vantage GT3 plays host to a 6.0-litre V12 engine making over 600 hp with 700 Nm of torque. Upgrades for cooling and durability aside, the engine has also been re-positioned – sitting lower and further back for a near 50:50 weight distribution.  Power is channeled through a 6-speed Xtrac sequential gearbox and a carbon fibre propshaft.

Driven by Malaysian Kenneth Lim and James Cai from China, the car dominated the M-category of last year’s Blancpain GT Series Asia season with a podium finish at every race – winning three. So how would an everyday, lay person react behind the wheel of a GT3 race car? Clearly, not too well as you’d see.
