SpyBuzz: Volvo S60 flaunts sporty rear end, C-Class/3-Series killer?

The all-new Volvo V60 estate was unveiled in full not too long ago but Volvo Cars have yet to present its sedan twin, the Volvo S60. However, for you eager fans out there, a single image of the S60 was leaked onto the internet before of its global debut.

First uploaded onto Teknikens Varld, the S60 appears to share similar design cues as its larger sibling the S90 but it is also made obvious that the S60 is much leaner in profile. No other details were revealed on the Swedish site, but we can assume the soon to be introduced sedan to spot the same front end as its estate twin.

Underpinning the S60 is the company’s Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform and expect the new sedan to feature the same range of engine options as the V60 – T5, T6, T8, D3 and D4. The T6 and T8 are Twin Engine AWD plug-in hybrid versions packing 340 hp and 390 hp, respectively.

Volvo Cars have not expressed a timeline on the official debut of the Volvo S60 but it is believed to happen within the first half of 2018. Locally, Volvo Car Malaysia (VCM) had local assembly operations for the outgoing S60 and considering that VCM is capable of manufacturing SPA platform vehicles (XC90, XC60 and S90), the C-Class and 3-Series will be up against a strong contender.
