Porsche and Audi will be pairing up to produce electric cars

In such trying times, even luxury car brands like Porsche and Audi are no exception to joint initiatives in order to reduce operational costs in anticipation of a sustainable future.

In a report by Autonews, two of the Volkswagen Group’s luxury divisions will be sharing a platform for their production of electric cars in order to reduce cost of development

Cost apparently would be 30% higher if both brands were to embark on their own developments and could be a significant obstacle for the two brands aiming to introduce several models by 2021.

This follows after our recent post on Audi Sport venturing into the production of high performance electric vehicles beginning 2020 while Porsche has already unveiled the Cayman e-volution that sprints from 0 to 100 km/h faster than a 911 GT3.Porsche also recently announced that the all-electric Porsche Mission E – a 600 hp four-seater that can do 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds – could hit the roads by as early as 2020.
