For those of you who can’t wait any longer for UMW Toyota (UMWT) to officially introduce the Toyota C-HR, here is an alternative if you want this funky compact crossover to balik kampung with during the Chinese New Year season.
MyMotor.my, the online car marketplace backed by MyEG, has brought in 32 units of the JDM-spec C-HR, ready to be delivered before Chinese New Year. The parallel imported C-HRs comes in two variants: S-T and G-T, both are powered by a 1.2-litre turbo and four-wheel drive.
Under the hood, you’ll find an 8NF-FTS 1.2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder paired to a CVT (Continuous Variable Transmission) with seven-stepped ratios to produce 113 hp and 185 Nm of torque. Drive is deployed to all four wheels. The official units from UMWT will be a 1.8-litre naturally-aspirated engine paired to a CVT and will only be front-wheel driven.
Equipment wise, the entry level S-T gets halogen headlamps, 17-inch alloys, 8-inch touchscreen and more. The more expensive G-T adds LED headlamps, upsized 18-inch alloys, front and rear park assist Sonar and fabric-leather combination seat covers. MyMotor also kitted some of the units with body kit options and a variety of bright colours such as this Yellow.
Being a full JDM-model, these parallel imported C-HR comes with Toyota Safety Sense P as standard which comes with Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control and Automatic High Beams. In Malaysia, the only car that comes with Toyota Safety Sense P as standard is the recently launched Harrier.
Now for pricing, if you remember UMWT hinting a price tag of RM145k for their local-spec C-HR, a C-HR from MyMotor starts from RM176,000 to RM185,000 depending on the variant and specifications. Yes, you read that right, RM30k more expensive than what UMWT is quoting.
While UMWT offers a 5-Years Unlimited Mileage warranty on all their models, MyMotor customers can opt for the MyOPal extended warranty package of 1-Years or 20,000 km for RM1,000 which is upgradable to a maximum of 3-Years/60,000 km. Like a regular warranty package, owners will have to send their car for routine servicing at authorised MyOPal service centres.
