Subaru XV named safest Small Family Car by EURO NCAP

Subaru UK announced that the all-new Subaru XV (European spec-ed) had been named the safest vehicle in the Small Family Car category from the 2017 Euro NCAP testings, earning it the “Best In Class” title.

The XV achieved the best scores in the Small Family Car class for three out of four aspects – Adult Occupant, Child Occupant and Pedestrian Protection. It also performed outstandingly in the Safety Assist tests with its Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) and Lane Support System. All in all it achieved the maximum five-star overall rating in the 2017 European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP).

The XV is one of the first models, aside from the Impreza, to feature the new Subaru Global Platform (SGP), for higher levels of safety performance, driving enjoyment and ride comfort. The SGP platform offers enhanced body and chassis rigidity – 70% increased torsional rigidity, 70% increased front suspension rigidity and 100% increased rear sub frame rigidity.

Also contributing to the XV’s outstanding results is Subaru’s Eye Sight technology which utilises two digital cameras that monitors traffic movement to warn the driver of threats ahead and to apply pre-collision braking in emergency situations. The system also prevents unintentional lane departure. The XV also comes with seven airbags, including one SRS knee airbag.
