Subaru Outback 2.5L facelift now in Singapore, Malaysian debut in Q2 2018!

Unveiled alongside the Subaru XV 2.0L with EyeSight at the 2018 Singapore Motor Show is the facelifted Subaru Outback. The facelifted SUV gets refreshed looks, better tech and most importantly the award-winning Subaru EyeSight Advanced Driver Assist Technology.

Externally, the facelift introduced a reshaped front bumper, hexagonal grille with Active Grille Shutters and light-weight, aerodynamic-friendly turbine-shaped rims. Elsewhere it soldiers on with full LED headlamps, roof rails, bumper guard, keyless entry and roof rails with integrated crossbars.

Inside the car now benefits from a new 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as front and side view monitors in addition to the rear-view camera. Other standard items include a multifunctional steering wheel with paddle shifters, power adjustable driver’s seat with memory function, Harman Kardon speakers, keyless entry and start, powered tailgate and more.

Motivation remains unchanged, coming from a 2.5-litre horizontally opposed naturally aspirated four-cylinder Boxer engine that produces 172 hp and 235 Nm of torque. However, the engine benefits from a new and lighter alternator that returns three percent better fuel economy.

The Lineartronic CVT has been revised from a CVT chain to a short pitch chain to reduce vibration and noise. The transmission also gets a new mapping, now with seven virtual ratios for a sportier acceleration feel.

Like the XV, Singapore-bound Outbacks comes equipped with the EyeSight system as standard, bundling Pre-Collision Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Pre-Collision Throttle Management, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Sway Warning and Lead Vehicle Start Alert.

Motor Image said that the Subaru Outback facelift will make its debut in Malaysia sometime in Q2 of 2018, and will be fully imported from Japan like before.
