Volkswagen delivered 1 million Golfs in 2017, hatchback most popular

Besides witnessing an astonishing 40 percent growth for the Volkswagen Tiguan in 2017, Wolfsburg also delivered close to one million of the Volkswagen Golf over the past 12 months. The Golf, now in its seventh-generation continues to be brand’s most successful model.

Available in three body styles – hatchback, estate and Sportsvan with a variety of powertrain options from the efficient GTE to the fire-breathing R, the Golf appealed to a wide range of audience. The Golf hatchback proved to be the most popular and is once again the best-selling model in its class in Germany and Europe.

The Golf estate also proved to be increasingly popular among buyers, recording an 11 percent growth compared to the previous year – the strongest growth in the Golf family. To date, Volkswagen has produced over 34 million units of the Golf across seven generations, including one million this year.
