Alibaba Group invests in an electric vehicle start up



Electric vehicle startup from Guangzhou, Xiaopeng Motors Technology has reportedly received investments from e-commerce giants Alibaba Group.

According to Automotive News China, the company, also known as XPENG Motors, is on the path of delivering its first 1,000 vehicles. XPENG’s first production model, the Identity X, is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.8 seconds in the AWD model and 7.9 seconds in the 2WD model with a range of 300 km.

It’s also equipped with autonomous features, adaptive cruise control and voice command. Inside features a 12.3-inch instrument cluster along with a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment display.

The Identity X’s parking assist system comes with four ultra-wide angle cameras that generates and records a 360-degree panoramic top view of the car. The car’s roof-mounted HD cameras can also be used for photography and videography on the go.
