Audi Sport confirms high-performance electric vehicle by 2020



Audi Sport, the performance sub-brand of Audi has hinted that they will be venturing into high-performance electric vehicles from 2020 as well as building more high-performance SUVs.

According to AutoCar UK, CEO of Audi Sport, Stephen Winkelmann confirmed that an all-electric Audi Sport model will surface by the end of 2020 with more models to come by 2030. Despite that, Winkelmann expressed that turbocharged Audi Sport models will stay for many more years to come.

He added: “In 2018, 19, 20, we will have a lot of turbo engines with new models. We are not forgetting our icons, so we will continue to build them. Even if we keep in mind that electrification is important for us, legislators permitting, our turbo engines will stay because we are very proud of these.”

Winkelmann also expressed that Audi Sport will be exploring more high-performance Q models to cater to the growing demand for SUVs in the global market. Moving forward, the brand will be focusing their investments on global products, catering not only for Europe but also Asia and America.
